This little-known model is attributed to Brachard, without specifying whether it is the elder Jean-Charles-Nicolas or the younger Jean-Nicolas-Alexandre Brachard, who worked together at the factory between 1782 and 1827.
This is an idealized portrait of the queen, rather than the evocation of a sovereign at the height of her power, as Boizot’s model evoked. Her head turned slightly to the right, her shoulders clothed in a naturally knotted fabric, she wears a diadem adorned with a lily flower and held in place by a string of pearls. Everything here reflects royalist iconography, which might suggest that the model, whose exact creation date is unknown, probably dates from the Restoration period.
