The Louis XIV rooms are situated on the first floor of the North Wing of the Palace between the Royal Opera House, built at its extremity, and the central body housing the State Apartments.

Like an introduction to the visit of the State Apartments, these rooms retrace the Louis XIV era through a gallery of paintings. From the king’s childhood through to the creation of academies, portraits of ministers and ladies of the court give way to military campaigns and receptions of ambassadors.

 This set includes a quill pen and two bottles of ink from the Maison J. Herbin: a black one and a red one.
