“Le Nôtre, 1613-1700” Medal – Arthus-Bertrand

36,00

This medal evokes the embroideries that are characteristic of the formal French gardens and thus honours André Le Nôtre, the King’s gardener, who turned Versailles into his masterpiece.

In 1661, Louis XIV entrusted André Le Nôtre with the design and layout of the Gardens of Versailles, which he considered to be as important as the Palace itself. The work was undertaken at the same time as work on the Palace and lasted some forty years.

Material: Silvered bronze
