Created for the palace of Versailles, this candle is scented with rice powder. The natural wax is contained in a translucent ceramic cup. Hand-made, the cup is decorated with a lace pattern that adds a delicate and refined touch. The candle is sold in a pretty box featuring the Marie-Antoinette" monogrammed medallion.

Barbers used rice powder every day for their customers to maintain their wigs. The wearing of wigs became very popular at the end of the 17th century in the reign of Louis XIV. After fitting the wig, the barber sprinkled it with rice powder or starch to give it an even colour and hold the hair in place.
