The Marly honey

2023 harvest

20,00

After the installation of twelve hives at the Trianon Estate, eight hives were installed at the National Estate of Marly in 2022 to gain new insights into the environmental provisions of the Palace of Versailles. Today, you can taste the honey from the 2023 harvest: sweet, strong, liquid and licorious! Produced by Ile-de-France black bees, a local breed of bee, this honey contributes to the preservation of local species and biodiversity.

This amber-tinged honey blends several notes of chestnut and bramble, giving it a woody dominance and a slightly strong taste that contrasts with the subtlety of lime blossom in the background.

In 1678, Louis XIV chose the village of Marly to establish his new private estate. Secret and private, accessible only to rare guests, Marly became a residence of entertainment, festivities, surprises and leisure, of experimentation and ever-changing pleasures, far removed from the fixed, unchanging protocol of Versailles. The mysterious appeal of the place never ceased to contribute to its renown throughout the reign of its creator.

The Marly Estate has been managed by the Public Establishment of Versailles since 2009, marking the attachment of this highly historic and symbolic site to the Estate of Versailles, three hundred and fifty years after its creation by Louis XIV.
