The Bony pattern is distinguished by the delicacy of its floral motifs, which combine delicate garlands of roses, bouquets of lilacs, and peacock feathers. Its classical aesthetic is directly adapted from a 1786 gouache drawing attributed to Jean-François Bony. This historic design, now preserved at the palace of Versailles, featured the official embroidery motifs commissioned for Queen Marie-Antoinette’s bed and bedroom.
