The round curves of these earrings recall the decorated ironwork of the royal railings and gate leading into the Palace of Versailles.Imagined during the "Grand Siècle" (17th century) in the reign of Louis XIV by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, this entirely gilded gate opens into the Royal Courtyard of the Palace where only people who had been properly recommended could hope to enter. The gate and railings were restored in 2008 to mark the tercentenary of the death of Jules Hardouin-Mansart.

Designed and made by the Paris-based jeweller 26Passage, these earrings are made from vermeil (gilded silver) and measure 3 cm in diameter.
