The sun of this kit is to be embroidered in "Saint-Cyr" stitch with yellow, brown and green wool. The "Saint-Cyr" or "petit-point" stitch consists of embroidering the canvas with a single stitch with diagonal rising or descending stitches. The sun is the emblem of king Louis XIV.

This motif is often used in the décor of the Château de Versailles, combined with the portraits and royal emblems. It also appears on the railings of the Cour d'Honneur.
