Kepler de Papel Compass

38,00

This Kepler de Papel compass is the reproduction of naval scientific instrument from the 18th century. The wooden case holds a sun dial and a compass completed by a Wind Rose with a brass needle on the top of the case. The shadow of the stiff thread plays the role of gnomon. A booklet on the instrument's history and how it works is included.

Passionately interested in science, Louis XVI took part in 1785 in the preparation of the voyage of the La Pérouse expedition. The King plotted the route of this voyage around the world on an atlas.
