Laboratory test tube

23,00

This 500ml glass test tube is based on the ones chemists use in their laboratories. They are customarily graduated and used to measure liquid volumes. The accuracy is approximate; a gauged vial is used to make more precise measurements. You can also find a 1,000ml spherical vial in the gift shop.

When Jean-Baptiste Colbert was Louis XIV's 'prime minister' he emphasized scientific research by creating the Academy of Sciences in 1666. The relationship between science and power continued under Louis XV and Louis XVI. Ten laboratories, workshops and libraries were located above Louis XVI's private apartment, including a chemistry cabinet where the king performed scientific experiments.
