Necklace of freshwater pearls

753,00

Between the 17th and the 18th centuries, a pearl necklace was a highly prized item of jewellery, as can be seen in the numerous portraits of women exhibited in the Palace of Versailles, notably that of Marie de Medicis by Frans Pourbus, Anne of Austria by Antoine Masson, and the famous portrait of Marie-Antoinette painted by Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun.

This necklace is made of shiny nacreous freshwater pearls. Each pearl is knotted individually on a double silk thread. The knot between each pearl prevents them from rubbing together and is a protection in case the thread breaks. Perfectly spherical, these natural and unique pearls give this necklace a note of absolute elegance. This necklace is presented in a case.
