These ten prints are a new opportunity to discover photographs from Hervé Ternisien’s book, Les Jardins de Versailles. These photographs are printed in a limited edition and each print is signed and numbered by the artist. They come with a mount.

Apollo Fountain. Apollo on his Chariot, by Jean-Baptiste Tuby, group, gilded lead, 1668-1670. “Every morning, Apollo leaves Tethis’s cave at the bottom of the sea. He needs energy to rise up into the heavens. Positive energy enables us achieve great things.”

In 1636, under Louis XIII, there was a different fountain where the Apollo Fountain stands today, called the Swan Fountain, which Louis XIV had decorated with the impressive, famous group in gilded lead representing Apollo on his chariot. The work by Tuby, based on a drawing by Le Brun, is inspired by the legend of Apollo, god of the Sun and emblem of the King. Tuby produced this monumental group between 1668 and 1670 at the Manufacture des Gobelins, when it was transported to Versailles and installed and gilded the following year.
