This globe is fixed on an inclined aluminium axis and the base is black wood. The map printed on a black background is a reproduction of an original map of the celebrated cartographer Robert de Vaugondy, who was appointed cartographer and royal censor by king Louis XV. He produced two large globes, one celestial and the other terrestrial.
