Cushion cover "Tapisserie Marie-Antoinette"

59,00

This cushion cover was created from a detail of Marie Antoinette's headboard.

The floral motif was inspired by an embroidery project for the Queen's quilt (bedspread). In 1786, when Marie-Antoinette wished to renew the summer furniture, i.e. the textile decoration of her great room, the Garde-Meuble called upon the Lyon embroiderer and painter Jean-François Bony to make the embroideries for the bed and the seats, which had to harmonize with the new wall hanging.

This cushion cover is part of the collection "Tapestry Marie-Antoinette" available on the online shop. It is declined in several products that reproduce the design of the quilt, the only original element that survived the Revolution.
